Pennzoil and NTPA Proudly Announce 

the 2008 “Pennzoil Cup” Promotion

Worthington, OH--Pennzoil, a division of Shell Lubricants based in Houston, Texas, and the National Tractor Pullers Association are pleased to announce the continuation of the “Pennzoil Cup” which has several aspects that will benefit NTPA Competitors as well as pulling fans and will generate excitement and interest in the sport.

"Pennzoil is very excited to be part of the NTPA again in the 2008 pulling season," began David Lerch, Pennzoil Motorsports Marketing Director. "We witnessed great success with the Pennzoil Cup program last year and we wanted to come back and make the program bigger and better for the pullers and fans of the sport this year. Pennzoil looks forward to a great pulling season and wishes all of the pullers good luck during the season."

The “Pennzoil Cup” venues once again include the Budweiser Dairyland NTPA Super Nationals in Tomah, Wis. on June 20-22; Lion’s Super Pull of the South in Chapel Hill, Tenn. on July 18-19; and the National Tractor Pulling Championships in Bowling Green, Ohio on August 15-17. Up for grabs in this unique program is $60,000 earmarked to the following five stellar divisions competing at each: Unlimited Modifieds, Super Stock Diesel Tractors, Two Wheel Drive Trucks, Four Wheel Drive Trucks and Mini Modifieds. Points will be combined from each event to declare the “Pennzoil Cup” champion in each respective division. Winners in each division will receive $5,000, second place will receive $2,500, third will receive $2,000, fourth will receive $1,500, and fifth place will receive $1,000.

In order to be eligible, competitors must display program decals on both sides of their pulling machine and be a licensed NTPA competitor.

“The ‘Pennzoil Cup,’ in its second year on the NTPA Grand National Pulling Circuit, is a tremendous rewards programs to the hard running competitors in our sport,” said David P. Schreier, WPI President/CEO. “It will gain additional interest with the fans as they watch and monitor the progress of their favorite competitors throughout the summer. We appreciate Pennzoil’s on-going and growing commitment to the NTPA, and enjoy our strong relationship.”

The other facet of this program is a fan portion, making this program  truly all-reaching. Fans attending the “Pennzoil Cup” events have the opportunity to visit the Pennzoil Feel the Clean tour display, which will allow them to learn more about Pennzoil products. Not only can fans tour this interactive and fact-filled display, they will also receive a Pennzoil Cup special edition NTPA ball cap for stopping by.

Besides the Pennzoil Cup Series, Pennzoil remains the presenting sponsor on the weekly NTPA Championship Pulling Series on RFD-TV. "The commitment that Pennzoil has shown to the NTPA and our RFD-TV television package has been a tremendous boost to our show," said Gregg Randall, WPI/NTPA GM. "Their support allows us to broaden our production capacity and creativity, which definitely excites the entire crew in regards to season four of the series. NTPA Championship Pulling can be seen weekly on RFD-TV each Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. EST with subsequent re-broadcasts throughout the week and weekends, including on RFD-TV HD.
