Soybean Checkoff and NTPA team up again to promote Soy Biodiesel Soy Biodiesel named “Official Fuel of the 2008 NTPA Season”

Worthington, OH – The NTPA proudly welcomes back the United Soybean Board (USB)/Soybean Checkoff to the roster of National Supporting Sponsors for the 2008 NTPA Championship Pulling Series.

This USB sponsorship helps to further the advancement, communication and use of soy biobased products, in particular soy biodiesel, to potential consumers at NTPA National Events. While each NTPA Grand National event will have USB-themed signage, public address announcements and other marketing efforts, six NTPA National Events will have product displays integrating audience interaction. These events include: June 13-14 in Ottertail, Minn.; July 12 in Warsaw, Ind.; July 18-19 in Montgomery City, Mo.; July 18-19 in Chapel Hill, Tenn.; August 8-9 in Saluda, S.C.; and August 15-17 in Bowling Green, Ohio. Also, USB will be recognized on NTPA’s weekly television series on RFD-TV.

A new portion of this sponsorship includes soy biodiesel being recognized as the official fuel of the NTPA season. The NTPA fleet of Chevy Silverado Trucks will be utilizing biodiesel fuel or fuel treatment throughout the season as well as signage at various events on sleds promoting the official fuel slogan.

“This new opportunity with NTPA really helps soy biodiesel take center stage,” says Russ Carpenter, USB Communications Committee vice chair and a soybean farmer from Trumansburg, N.Y. “With special signage on the sleds and vehicles, tractor-pull attendees, as well as anyone passing by an NTPA vehicle on the road, will have a chance to see soy biodiesel in action.”

“We are extremely pleased to welcome back the United Soybean Board and soybean checkoff program,” said David P. Schreier, WPI President/CEO. “The American farmer is a cornerstone of the sport of truck and tractor pulling. Soybeans are one of the integral agricultural crops produced in this country, so NTPA Championship Pulling and USB and the soybean checkoff program make a smart fit. The soybean’s flexibility as an important and valuable ingredient in various industrial products continues to be realized today and will continue to develop into the future. It is amazing to see the developments of this commodity into other parts of our economy, reaching the entire world population in one way or another. We encourage our fans and members to support biodiesel by using this beneficial product in their vehicles, trucking fleets and tractors. When you use biodiesel, you truly are doing something good for your engine.”

George Washington Carver and Henry Ford both called the soybean a miracle crop. That’s still true today. Everything from lotions to cleaning products to plastics can be made with soy. Many city buses and government fleets run on soy biodiesel fuel. Most of the oil and shortening we use for cooking comes from soy. And the animals that provide our meat are fed with soybean meal.

The hard-working soybean farmers who feed and fuel our nation are the driving force behind the soybean checkoff. They fund the research and marketing efforts of the checkoff through the sale of their soybeans. In turn, we get to enjoy clean, safe and renewable products made with soybeans as well as a reliable, abundant source of food.

The soybean checkoff would like to remind you that whether you’re pulling, planting or hauling, your diesel engine works hard to help you perform better. Return the favor and give your diesel engine the fuel that helps power the NTPA – soy biodiesel. It’s a fuel made right here in the United States, and just a 2 percent blend can increase fuel lubricity by up to 66 percent to help your engine run cleaner, longer. Visit www.biodiesel.org for a list of suppliers near you. And do something nice for your engine the next time you fuel up – ask for soy biodiesel.
