Worthington, Ohio---On Friday and Saturday, May 19 and 20, the National Tractor Pullers Association teams with the South Edgecombe Rural Fire Department in Pinetops, North Carolina to present the 41st annual Pinetops 300 Truck and Tractor Pull. The event, located at the Pinetops Ballpark, will feature seven classes each evening, with Friday's Session One beginning at 7 p.m. and Saturday's Session Two kicking off at 6:30 p.m.
In truck and tractor pulling, vehicles drag a 20-ton weight transfer sled along a straight, dirt track as the sled's resistance increases. Within a class of similar vehicles, the puller that achieves the greatest distance is victorious The NTPA is the world's number-one sanctioning organization for premier-level events that feature highly specialized machines resembling farm tractors, trucks, and dragsters and dedicated competitors that battle for purse money and end-of-season championships. With superchargers emitting an ear-splitting whine, massive tires churning clay at 100-mph wheelspeeds, turbochargers pumping columns of diesel smoke into the sky, and engine combinations exceeding 10,000 horsepower, high-performance pulling offers fans a multitude of thrills unmatched by any other motorsport.
Classes competing at the Pinetops 300 Truck and Tractor Pull each night include Heavy Super Stock and Super Farm Tractors, Two-Wheel-Drive and Four-Wheel-Drive Trucks, and Mini and Multi-Engine Modifieds. Participants in these classes at the Pinetops 300 will compete for points toward championships in NTPA's Region IV (North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia) and berths in the 31st Enderle Memorial Pull-Off. The NTPA's all-star invitational, the Enderle's 2017 edition will be held Saturday, September 16 in Urbana, Ohio.
Additionally, a United Pullers of the Carolinas class of Light Four Wheel Drives will appear each evening at the Pinetops 300. UPOC is an NTPA member state organization and will present seven events in 2017.
