NTPA Welcomes Dixie Chopper as a Sponsor Print E-mail
Tuesday, 15 December 2009 15:48

In Essex Junction, Vermont, this past summer, WPI President/CEO David P. Schreier had the pleasure of meeting Gary A. Morgan, the new president and CEO of Dixie Chopper.

The Champlain Valley Exposition's NTPA Grand National Event had a local Dixie Chopper sponsorship involvement, and Morgan happened to be there for the Labor Day event. Morgan was touring the eastern half of the U.S. in a grass roots effort to meet dealers and explain his vision for the company in the near future.

Morgan was impressed by what he saw during the NTPA event, and the two men exchanged business cards. A couple of months later, a three-year deal is in place between WPI/NTPA and Dixie Chopper as the "Official Lawn Mower of the NTPA." Another prominent part of the sponsorship will involve Dixie Chopper's presence on NTPA's weekly RFD-TV series, as well at the NTPA National Events.

"It is a pleasure to add Dixie Chopper to NTPA's family of sponsors," Schreier said. "They produce a quality product, and really fit in well in regard to our demographics. We look forward to a successful and long relationship with them."

The sponsorship was announced at the NTPA Awards Banquet in December with Morgan and his wife Nancy in attendance.

“We are excited to be a part of the NTPA and to join the list of outstanding sponsors that support this great sport,” Dixie Chopper President Morgan said.

“As the manufacturer of the ‘World’s Fastest Lawn Mower’ and the zero-turn lawn mower with the most horsepower, we recognize the hard work, skill, pride and expertise that go into every one of the competitors’ tractors and trucks and wish them all good luck,” Morgan added. “We look forward to our involvement in the coming season and also have plans to run Jake Zaring and his World Champion Dixie Chopper pulling truck in some NTPA events.”

In 2010, Dixie Chopper will celebrate its 30th anniversary as manufacturer of the “World’s Fastest Lawn Mower” (one with a 72-inch deck can mow a football field in 10 minutes).

Company founder/owner Art Evans designed and built the first Dixie Chopper in April 1980. Little did anyone know then that he would help revolutionize the entire lawn and garden industry.

Dixie Chopper mowers are known for their performance, productivity and reliability. Still family owned and operated, near Greencastle, Ind., Dixie Chopper takes great pride in producing the most productive mid-mount, zero turning mowers in the industry. Through the years manufacturing processes and procedures may have changed, but Dixie Chopper’s corporate values have remained constant.

Evans had two distinct goals in mind when he started Dixie Chopper: To build a lawn mower that wouldn’t break when you used it; and to build a machine that would have timeless value with years of productivity remaining long after it had been paid for.

Today Dixie Chopper mowers range from a 27-hp model with a 34-inch cut to a 40-hp version with a 74-inch deck and various combinations in between.

Dixie Chopper is the only mower manufacturer offering four fuel options. Besides models with gasoline engines supplied by Generac, Kohler and Briggs & Stratton, Dixie has a new diesel with a Caterpillar engine, a Generac propane unit in both 66- and 74-inch cutting widths and the industry’s only compressed natural gas-powered mower, the Eco-Eagle.

Not only has every single Dixie Chopper been made in the USA, they all have been manufactured and assembled right at home in Putnam County, Ind.

In September 2008, the company ushered in a new era with a new president taking over for the first time since Art Evans conceived the idea of a Dixie Chopper. Gary A. Morgan, formerly in a senior management capacity with Case New Holland, assumed the Dixie Chopper reins as president and CEO. Evans, who turns 68 in March, is now concentrating his efforts on research and development.
