Worthington, Ohio---It has been 18 weeks since the first green flag waved on the 2017 NTPA season. And while the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh, at which the final red flag will mark its end, is still a month away, national pulling in the Midwest reaches its finish line this week.
In Allegan, Michigan, it's the Allegan County Fair Pull on Wednesday, September 13 at 7 p.m. The final three Region II champions will be crowned in Super Farm, Pro Stock, and Modified Mini, while the Pros will pull for a raised Pro National purse. Leaders in these divisions are Stan Warda of Berrien Springs, Michigan ("Hammerin' Hank" SF, +28), Ryan Walters of Wharton, Ohio and the Whitneys of St. Marys, Ohio ("Chasin' Tail" and "Ground Force" PS, tied at +25), and David Lacey of Thedford, Ontario ("Triple Play Unchained" MINI, +18). Allegan's results will count toward the 32nd Memorial Enderle Pull-Off. In fact, Warda and Lacey have already accepted invitations to the 2017 Enderle based on points accumulated through Tipton and Marietta.
Speaking of which, this Saturday, September 16 is the most prestigious single day in pulling: The 31st Memorial Enderle Pull-Off in Urbana, Ohio. Action begins at 5 p.m. with Regional National Session One, in which 37 competitors across nine divisions (Light Super Stock, Heavy Super Stock, Super Farm, Light Pro Stock, Limited Pro Stock, Two Wheel Drive, Four Wheel Drive, Modified Mini, and Modified) will make one last run for the money. Then, around 7 p.m., Session Two's 65 Grand National pullers from 13 divisions (Light Super Stock, Super Stock Diesel, Super Stock Open, Super Farm, Pro Stock, Two Wheel Drive, Four Wheel Drive, Super Stock Diesel 4x4, Super Semi, Modified Mini, Light Unlimited, Modified, and Unlimited) will close the curtain on the NTPA's premier circuit for 2017. In all, nearly $103,000 will be at stake on the twin tracks of the Champaign County Fairgrounds.
