410-ci Super Stock Four Wheel Drive Class Added to New Castle Event

Worthington, Ohio---Thanks to a sponsorship arrangement with Martin Contracting & Design of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, the Lawrence County Father's Day Nationals have added a Region II class of Super Stock Four-Wheel-Drive Trucks to its Saturday, June 15 slate. Already scheduled to appear at the NTPA's new Pro National event are Grand National Two Wheel Drives and Region II Modified Minis and Eastern Subregional Light Pro Stocks.

The event to be held at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds in New Castle, Pennsylvania brings to three the number of scheduled 2019 appearances of the SS-4x4 class, which runs with a 410-cubic inch engine displacement limit within the region. The significance of the third hook---complementing Session One of Canton, Ohio's Stark County Fair Pull on Friday, August 30 and Old Washington, Ohio's Guernsey County Fair Pull on Monday, September 9---is that the division will crown a champion this season.

"We thank New Castle and Martin Contracting for stepping forward to help this new class take hold in Region II," began Gregg Randall, NTPA Office GM. "The prospect of a new truck division intrigued quite a few of our promoters in eastern Ohio, and it's great that Canton and Old Washington were early adopters. We hope that others will give this competitive, high-RPM class a second look in the seasons to come."

Martin Contracting & Design is owned by Ryan Martin, who is a 410 class competitor himself with “The Gunslinger.” Ryan and his brother Tyler, owner of “The Outlaw,” have campaigned their Super Stock Fords across western PA for several seasons. Tyler's company, Martin's Signs & Graphics, will produce the oversized trophy checks to be awarded to Father's Day Nationals winners.

In a letter announcing the expansion, Lawrence County Fair representative Phil Kelley expressed gratitude to the Martins and the NTPA in rapidly coming to the agreement. "Expedient communication with NTPA assisted in making this process move forward progressively, and the negotiation has led to a cost-effective situation that will end up being a valuable asset to all parties involved," wrote Kelley.
