Jon Herring, "Kryptonite" FWD Driver, Has Passed

The WPI/NTPA office was recently notified of the passing on Friday, July 5 of Jon Herring, 47, of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Mr. Herring drove the "Kryptonite" Ford to the 2005 Region IV Four Wheel Drive championship and to two United Pullers of the Carolinas titles in 2006 and 2007.

In pursuit of his lifelong loves of motorsports and fabrication, Mr. Herring worked for his father at his construction company and founded Kryptonite Motorsports. A 32nd degree Master Mason and member of the New Lebanon Lodge #314, he also was well known for his culinary skills and lent his assistance to many fundraisers.

Mr. Herring is survived by his wife Shelly, his dad Mike and his wife Jo Ann, his father- and mother-in-law Donnie and Sue Raper, and his sister and brother-in-law Michaelle and Nicky Overman and their children Steven, Logan, and Beth. His full obituary may be found here.
