Worthington, Ohio---Gold standard. Golden anniversary.
On Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23, the Michiana Event Center in Shipshewana, Indiana will host the NTPA Shipshewana Spring Nationals as part of the 50th season of National Tractor Pullers Association Championship Pulling. The Grand National invitational will be conducted in two sessions to begin at 6 p.m., and the event will accompany the two-day Michiana Farm Show presented by Grogg-Martin Auctioneers and Realty and the MEC.
In NTPA Championship Pulling, vehicles drag a 20-ton weight transfer sled along a straight, dirt track as the sled's resistance increases. Within a class of similar vehicles, the puller who achieves the greatest distance is victorious. At events across the United States, elite competitors campaign their specialized machines---which resemble farm tractors, trucks, and dragsters---for chances at purse money and precious points toward end-of-season championships. In 2019, the Association is proud to complete its first half century as the world's original and number-one sanctioning organization for premier-level truck and tractor pulling events. Fierce, fair pulling competition and a family-friendly, patriotic atmosphere are hallmarks of NTPA Championship Pulling events. If you haven't experienced the rumbles, roars, and rivalries of the heaviest sport on wheels, why not give it a try in Shipshewana?
Each session of the NTPA Shipshewana Spring Nationals will feature Grand National Light Super Stock and Super Farm Tractors and Regional National Limited Pro Stock Tractors and StainlessDiesel.com Pro Stock Diesel 4x4 3.0 Trucks, all of which will compete on a regulation-length track. And each night will conclude with a twin-engine Light Unlimited Modified exhibition that will rock the facility's massive Trade Show Building. The Michiana Farm Show will start at noon each day in the adjacent Coliseum, and access to the show and to the open pit area are included with pull admission.
Among those invited to perform at Shipshewana are the reigning GN Super Farm champion Stan Warda of Berrien Springs, Michigan and his "Hammerin Hank" International 3688, GN Rookie of the Year Adam Spiegelberg of Weyauwega, Wisconsin and his "Detonator Black" Case IH MX210 Light Super, and Marion, Ohio competitors Kevin Criswell and Brad Benedict, who will show off a reconfigured "Non-Cents" and also a brand new Light Unlimited ride. Several 2019 RN top-performers are prominent on the roster as well, from Limited Pros (champions Garrett Boldry/"Smoke Fever" and Bill Figanbaum/"Instigator" plus Kevin Lindstrom's Enderle Pull-Off-winning "Hyper Harvester") to Super Farms (champs Charlie Capozzo/"Cruel Intentions" and Rod Deck/"Dream On") to PSD 4x4 Western champ Jeff Hossler of Columbia City, Indiana and his "Flirtin' with Disaster" Dodge. An up-to-date list of anticipated competitors may be found on the front page of the NTPA's official website, www.NTPAPULL.com.
