Question:

What the heck does this blanket thing look like? How the heck am I supposed to build or where do I get one of these new blankets for my gearbox? Does it have to be sfi approved ? If so, what spec does it have to be?

Answer:

No, it does not have to be SFI approved, but it must be built by a recognized blanket maker and you will need a receipt that states the date it was made, material and manufacture of the blanket.  Below I have listed a couple of companies that have already contacted NTPA and are ready to build a blanket for the multi-engine gearboxes.

Remember, when you order one you will need to know the circumference and width of your gearbox and will have to provide the builder with all the proper dimensions in order to fit the blanket correctly.

Companies that have agreed to build them so far:

Gerardot Performance in Indiana,
260-623-3048

Taylor Motorsports Products in California,
714 630-7850 Tech Line
800 320-2988 Order Line
714 632-7897 Fax Line

I have posted a picture below of the blanket. I believe that Gerardot built it for this tractor.

Question:

Larry,

Arcola is being rumored as a RN with points being scored for the 2009 Enderle.  Is this true?

Thx.  JW

Answer:

I can't answer that, I'm just a "Tech Guy" but, I checked with the office, here is the answer:

All NTPA National point events will count towards the Enderle Pull-Off's point system except for a blackout period beginning five days prior to and five days proceeding calendar year's date for the Enderle Pull-Off. (i.e. Enderle Pull-Off is September 13th - points do not accumulate between September 8th and 18th of the preceding year). This gives competitors a chance to concentrate on making the Enderle Pull-Off without worrying about breakage or traveling to the event from another locale.

Since Arcola was rescheduled as a points pull and falls outside of this blackout period, then yes, it is part of the 2009 qualifying for the Enderle.

Question:

Richwine,

Does my rollcage have to be painted or powder coated before you inspect it?

Answer:

Yes, it must be mounted on the tractor and painted or powder coated before we inspect it. The inspector has to put the sticker in place themselves, we can't just hand them out. If we inspect it before you paint it, you'll have to paint around it.

*************************************************************************

Question:

Richwine how long is my rollcage certification good for? I can't find the expiration date anywhere.

Answer:

The rollcage certification is good 5 years from the date of inspection. Check the sticker and / or paperwork for the date.

*************************************************************************

If you need your Rollcage certified you can contact
NTPA tech services at 317-852-0630 or call the following
NTPA rollcage inspectors to schedule your cage.

The NTPA's Rollcage inspectors are:

Bob Menn                    217-357-2134

Dale Quamme              651-423-6371

Larry Richwine           317-852-0630

Steve Zimmer              740-525-0435

************************************************************************************************

Question:

Richwine how do I make these skid plate things?

Answer:

You can start with a piece of flat 12" long and 4" wide then roll the front of it up. You may end up with only 6"-7" of flat surface parallel with the ground on the bottom. Remember they need to be at least as strong as the frame material and no more than 4" off the ground and able to support the weight of the front end when we test them with a floorjack.
Note: They have to be FLAT on the bottom, not round.

Here are two examples of acceptable skid bars:
